'A Christmas Carol: A Broadway Musical' Comes Back To Suffolk

PATCHOGUE, NY — Bah, and humbug — the loveable miser Ebenezer Scrooge is back again this year.
Charles Dickens' classic tale will be brought to life by the players of The Gateway Theater will perform "A Christmas Carol: A Broadway Musical" at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts from Dec. 16 to 28.
The performance will include some Broadway heavy hitters such as Alan Menken from Disney’s "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Little Mermaid," as well "Little Shop of Horrors," and Lynn Ahrens from "Ragtime," "Seussical," and "Once on This Island."

The Gateway's performance will include brand new songs and dance numbers, but in keeping with the story of Scrooge, a rich curmudgeon who believes wealth is worth more than happiness and the comfort of others, often exclaiming, “Bah! Humbug.”
"Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he’s forced to face his selfish ways when three ghosts on Christmas Eve lead him through his past, present, and future," theater officials wrote on The Gateway's website. "Thanks to their guidance, Scrooge recognizes his faults and greets Christmas morning with a cheerful, “Happy Christmas,” before spending the day reconnecting and sharing love with the ones that mean the most to him."
