The Col. Josiah Smith Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) welcomes their new Regent. On August 1 Erin Shaw was installed by Chaplain Rosalie Shaber at the American Legion Park. The first act Regent Shaw performed was to lay a wreath: "I lay this wreath on behalf of Col. Josiah Smith Chapter, DAR, in memory of all those who have served the cause of freedom for the United States of America. This is indeed the land of the free because of the brave. We thank you all for your service."

DAR is a lineage society of women who are direct descendants of Patriots of the Revolutionary War. Patriots include officers, soldiers, and all who have actions proven to support the cause of freedom. Daughters of today are active in supporting their community, youth, veterans, and active service members. If you think you may have a patriot ancestor, you may contact the Col. Josiah Smith Vice Regent Dr. Joan Nathan at darsamuelprice@gmail.com
