Colonel Josiah Smith Chapter, DAR Hosts Galentine’s Celebration to Support Female Veterans

Celebration raises funds and gifts for women veterans at Beacon House

Laura Miller, Regent of the Colonel Josiah Smith Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), recently hosted a festive Galentine’s celebration bringing together members of the Colonel Josiah Smith Chapter, the Colonel Gilbert Potter Chapter, prospective members, and friends of DAR.
In the spirit of friendship and service, attendees donated items to create gift bags for three female veterans currently with Beacon House. The gift bags were filled with sweet treats, personal care items, cozy accessories, and thoughtful essentials, providing both comfort and a personal touch for the veterans. Funds collected at the event allowed each gift bag to include a $60 gift card, providing an added gesture of appreciation and support just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Veterans Chair Kathleen Guleksen coordinated the assembly of the gift baskets and personally delivered them to Beacon House, ensuring the veterans received the donations in time for the holiday.
The event highlighted DAR’s ongoing commitment to patriotism, education, and service, as well as its dedication to honoring and supporting veterans in the local community.
