Coram Man Arrested For Thefts Across 3 Suffolk Precincts: PD
He was slapped with 43 charges altogether - that included 33 active bench warrants for theft, Suffolk police said.
PATCHOGUE, NY — A 25-year-0ld Coram man was hit with 43 charges — including burglary, grand larceny, and 33 active warrants — after investigators learned he was responsible for burglarizing Home Depot and Dick's Sporting Goods on the South Shore, Suffolk police said.
It was learned by 5th Precinct Crime Section Officer Eric Cox that Matthew Verderosa, who was wanted by police, was possibly at the Midway Motel in Patchogue, police said, adding that he "surveilled the location and saw Verderosa leaving the hotel."
Verderosa ran away, and after a short foot pursuit, Cox placed him under arrest at about 11 a.m., according to police. He was charged with third-degree burglary for stealing goods from Home Depot in Patchogue on Friday, as well as fourth-degree grand larceny for stealing sporting goods from Dick’s Sporting Goods in Bay Shore Jan. 18, police said.

He was additionally charged with seven counts of petty larceny for stealing from stores in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th precincts, as well as seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and 33 bench warrants in connection with other larcenies, according to police.
Verderosa will be held overnight at the 5th Precinct in Patchogue and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday.
