DAR Walk with Farmer Abraham Woodhull

Col. Josiah Smith Chapter walked historic grounds in Setauket with Farmer Abraham Woodhull

Col. Josiah Smith DAR Chapter joined Bev Tyler on his walking tour of Farmer Abraham Woodhull's farm this past Saturday, October 6th. He shared information about the Culper Spy Ring activity. Abraham Woodhull was a spy for General George Washington. The ladies viewed the site of his farm, which burned down in 1932. The foundation survived, and a new home was built on the historic stone. The 2 1/2 mile walk occured through woods, under the careful eye of a deer family!

They also enjoyed a delicious lunch at Mario's in Setauket! Thank-you to the staff for making our luncheon so nice!

Daughters of the American Revolution is a lineage group of women who are directly descended from patriots of the American Revolution. A patriot is not only a soldier or officer, but someone who supported the cause of independence. The motto of the DAR is God, Home, and Family. Today's DAR is a mix of women of all backgrounds. Their goals include historic preservation, education of children, and support of veterans and active service persons.
