Feminist Rock Icon Melissa Etheridge To Perform At Patchogue Theatre's Gala In April
The Grammy Award-winning songstress is best known for "Come to my window," "I want to come over," and "I'm the only one."
PATCHOGUE, NY — Grammy-winning musician Melissa Etheridge will bring her "RISE" tour to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts for its gala on April 11.
Etheridge stormed onto the American rock scene in 1988 with the release of her critically acclaimed self-titled debut album, which led to an appearance at the 1989 Grammys, and over the next several years her popularity grew with tunes like "Bring Me Some Water," "No Souvenirs," and "Ain't It Heavy," according to a promotion.
Etheridge hit her commercial and artistic stride in 1993 with her fourth album, Yes I Am, which featured hits like, "I'm the Only One" and "Come to My Window."

She is also known for "I Want to Come Over."
Etheridge has remained one of the U.S.'s favorite female singers for more than two decades, and in that time became known for her outspoken views on sexuality in acknowledging her sexual orientation and women's healthcare when she revealed her battle with breast cancer.

She appeared on the 2005 Grammy telecast to sing "Piece of My Heart," a tribute to Janis Joplin, despite having lost her hair from chemotherapy, giving hope to many women afflicted with the disease.
In 2024, she released Melissa Etheridge: I'm Not Broken, a two-part docuseries on Paramount+ and an accompanying live album, which was recorded live within the grounds of the Topeka Correctional facility.
