SJC's Women's Volleyball's Ferchland, Wickline and Bocchieri Earn Skyline Accolades

The trio powered the Golden Eagles to an 8-2 conference record in 2015

New York, NY| Senior Heather Ferchland earned First-Team accolades and juniors Courtney Wickline and Courtney Bocchieri appeared on the Second-Team as the St. Joseph’s College (L.I.) women’s volleyball team collected end-of-season Skyline Conference awards, as per the conference website on Monday morning.

Ferchland, the 2014 Player of the Year, is a First-Team selection for the third-straight season having led the conference in hitting percentage (.369). The middle hitter’s 394 kill count was good for second in the Skyline and was the highest single-season total in St. Joseph’s history. Additionally, Ferchland graduates as the program’s all-time leader in kills with 1,370 after appearing in 123 matches.

A first-year setter, Wickline recorded a conference-best 998 assists and finished second in assists/set ratio (8.91). A 2014 Second-Team selection, Wickline ranked first on the team in service aces (59) and second with 258 digs. The Medford, NY native recorded over 40 assists six times this season and over 50 three times, having established a career-high 55 in a loss to Mt. St. Mary on October 31.

Bocchieri, a Suffolk County Community College transfer, collected 220 kills in 33 matches in her first season as a Golden Eagle. The middle blocker was credited with 69 total blocks, which was good enough for second in the conference, and .59 blocks/set. Bocchieri’s inclusion on the Second-Team comes a year after being named to the Region XV All-Region First-Team at Suffolk last season.
