Firefighters Battle Two Separate Tractor-Trailer Fires In Brookhaven Town Minutes Apart: Police
No one was hurt, Suffolk police say.
BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Area firefighters responded to two separate tractor-trailer fires that broke out in the greater Patchogue area on Wednesday night, Suffolk police said.
A fire broke out in a tractor-trailer on eastbound Sunrise Highway, just west of Hospital Road, in East Patchogue, at around 5:35 p.m., according to police. The vehicle pulled over to the right shoulder on the ramp from Hospital Road to the westbound Sunrise Highway, and it was closed at 5:42 p.m., while firefighters knocked it down. The road was reopened just after 6 p.m., police said.
A fire started on a pile of mulch at a mulch distributor, and spread to an 18-wheeler in the middle of the Mill Road property in Coram, at around 5:33 p.m., according to police.

Arson Squad detectives are investigating the Coram fire, police said.
No one was hurt in either fire, according to police.
