'Great Places In America' Celebration To Kick Off Fall Festival

The ceremony will kick off Patchogue's Fall Festival set for this weekend.

PATCHOGUE, NY - Patchogue Village will be kicking off the annual fall festival this weekend with a ceremony honoring the recent designation from the the American Planning Association (APA) naming the downtown area as one of four Great Neighborhoods in the U.S.

Last month, the APA announced that downtown Patchogue Village was one of the areas to make the list of Great Neighborhoods for 2019. In total, 13 places across the entire United States received recognition by the website.

To celebrate that honor, the village will hosting a celebration during the Patchogue Fall Festival this weekend with several town officials in attendance.

The officials will be presented a bronze plaque designating Downtown Patchogue Village as a Great Neighborhood. The ceremony is free and open to the public.

The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Historic Patchogue Theatre on 71 E Main Street.

There will also be a Village Views Pop Up Exhibition at Toast Coffeehouse on 46 E Main Street until 4 p.m., a walking tour (tickets can be purchased at nyplanning.org) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and an after party at Blue Point Brewery on 225 W Main Street (tickets by Patchogue Young Professionals) starting at 4 p.m.
