Heart-warming Encounter at the Patchogue Medford Library

This afternoon, my wife and I were walking past the Patchogue Medford Library, Patchogue, NY, on route to a restaurant. A young child and her mother were walking toward us; carrying what looked like very fancy cakes or cookies. My wife stopped the mother and asked her about the decorated Cup Cakes.

The child’s mother told us that her little girl had just won first place prize, for decorating cupcakes in her category! As the mother spoke of her daughter’s victory, the young child knew exactly what was being discussed in our conversation… The child’s smile actually lit-up Main Street, in Patchogue. The mother’s smile also had the effect of actually lighting-up both Main Street, in Patchogue, and the hearts of everyone who was listening to our conversation!

This short encounter made me realize that the residents of our town should really pay more attention to the many wonderful programs that are run at our own Patchogue Medford library.

I could not believe that the children in the contest, had such artistic talent!
