Suffolk Woman Seriously Injured When Corvette Crashes Into Sign On Sunrise Hwy: Cops

The 22-year-old was the passenger of a Corvette that veered off Sunrise Highway and struck a street sign, police said.

NORTH BELLPORT, NY— A 22-year-old Holtsville woman was seriously injured when the car she was riding in veered off the road and crashed into a street sign in North Bellport on Sunday night, Suffolk police said.

Police said a 23-year-old Holtsville man was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette westbound on Sunrise Highway, near Station Road at about 10 p.m., when he lost control of the car and it left the roadway before crashing into a street sign.

The woman was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said, adding that the man was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
