Man Robs Suffolk Smoke Shops: Cops

He pistol-whipped a clerk in North Patchogue and then bolted to Shirley where he robbed another stroke, police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — A man robbed two south shore smoke shops at gunpoint last month, and now investigators are looking for him, Suffolk police said.

A man went inside Nirvana Smoke Shop on Medford Avenue in North Patchogue, pistol-whipped a clerk and pushed two others to the ground before bolting with some cash on Dec. 26 at around 10 p.m., police said. About 20 minutes later, the suspect went inside Lucky Smoke Shop and Beer in Shirley and aimed a gun at a clerk, and made off with some more cash, according to police.

The man was described as around 5 feet 6 inches tall and he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the word “Hurley” in blue on the front, black pants, and red and black sneakers, police said. Investigators believe he may have sped away in a light-colored SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Equinox or a similar vehicle.
