LIer Charged After Daughter, 2, Found Walking On Service Road: Police

The toddler was found walking on a Sunrise Highway service road — and her mother was revived with Narcan, police say.

PATCHOGUE, NY —A Mastic Beach woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after her daughter, 2, was found walking on a Sunrise Highway service road in Patchogue early Sunday morning, police said.

The incident took place at 12:40 a.m. on Meadow Wood Drive near Rolling Hill Drive at 12:40 a.m., Suffolk County police said.

Anna Heinecker, 32, was driving a 2015 Scion on the eastbound Sunrise Highway Service Road with her toddler in the vehicle when she began to feel sick, police said. She pulled over on Meadow Wood Drive near Rolling Hill Drive and unbuckled the child from her car seat, police said. Heinecker subsequently lost consciousness and her daughter exited the vehicle; a passing motorist found the child walking on the road, police said.

Responding officers located Heinecker in her vehicle and revived her with Narcan, police said. Heinecker was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where she was treated and released into police custody, police said.

Heinecker was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child 15 years old or younger, a felony under Leandra's Law; operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, and acting in a manner injurious to a child, police said.

The child was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for evaluation and Child Protective
Services was notified, police said.

Heinecker was slated for arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Central Islip.
