Long Island Man Charged With Animal Cruelty

The SPCA says he repeatedly used a shock collar on his dog, causing it to scream in pain.

MASTIC BEACH, NY – A 41-year-old Long Island man was arrested Sunday on an animal cruelty charge, Suffolk County SPCA officials said.

Brian Hills, of Mastic Beach, is accused of repeatedly shocking his 2-year-old male Doberman with a shock collar, causing the dog to scream in pain, officials said.

Hills is charged with animal cruelty, a misdemeanor punishable by a $1,000 fine and/or up to a year in prison.

SPCA Chief Roy Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County.
