Man, 77, 'Suffers Medical Emergency,'Dies After Patchogue Car Crash

He was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and his name is being withheld pending the notification of his family, cops say.

PATCHOGUE, NY — A 77-year-old man died on Saturday when he suffered a medical emergency and the car he was driving crashed into a sign post inside of a shopping center in Patchogue, Suffolk police said.

The man had been driving alone in a 2006 Mini Cooper and was in the parking lot of the shopping center with King Kullen on Sunrise Highway, when the sport-utility vehicle crashed at about 6 p.m., police said, adding, that he was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

The man's name is being withheld pending the notification of his family, according to police.
