Man Caught Driving Drunk In N. Patchogue With Child In Car: SCPD
The 40-year-old was arrested after allegedly driving drunk with three other people in his car, including a 9-year-old child, police say.
NORTH PATCHOGUE, NY - A Bay Shore man was arrested after he was caught driving drunk with a 9-year-old boy in his car in North Patchogue on Saturday night, according to Suffolk Police.
Wesley Charles, 40, was driving a 1998 Dodge pickup eastbound on Sunrise Highway near Exit 55 when a Highway Patrol officer notice he was failing to maintain a lane and pulled him over at 9:25 p.m., police said. There were three passengers in the Dodge, including the 9-year-old boy, police said.
Charles was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, aggravated DWI with a child passenger 15-years-old or younger under Leandra’s Law and endangering the welfare of a child. The 9-year-old was released to the custody of his mother at the Fifth Precinct.

He was held overnight at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on December 15.
