UPDATE: Suffolk PD Releases ID Of Man Who Died On Sunrise Hwy
Detectives believe the 58-year-old suffered a medical event and his vehicle veered off of the roadway into a guardrail, police said.
UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: Suffolk police say David Redlo was driving a 2008 Mazda on westbound Sunrise Highway near exit 51 when his vehicle veered and struck a guardrail at 1:30 p.m. Redlo, 58, of Bohemia was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Detectives believe Redlo "suffered a medical event prior to the crash," according to police.
His vehicle is being impounded for a safety check, police said.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — A man who is believed to have suffered a medical event died after his vehicle veered off of Sunrise Highway and struck a guardrail on Tuesday, Suffolk police said.
The man, whose name has not been released, was driving a vehicle on westbound Sunrise Highway, near exit 51, when it veered off the road and struck a guardrail at about 1:30 p.m., police said, adding that he was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Fifth Squad detectives investigtaing the crash believe the he suffered a medical event, police said.
Westbound Sunrise Highway was closed at exit 51 for the investigation and then reopened at about 3:40 p.m.
