Man Fatally Stabs Mother Of Their 3 Children: Police

The tragedy occurred Monday morning at a Long Island home. The three children were home at the time, police say.

MASTIC, NY – A man was arrested after he fatally stabbed the mother of their three children in Mastic Monday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk Police, 32-year-old Kenneth Smith stabbed 28-year-old Krystal Nash during a domestic dispute at her home located at 74 Patchogue Ave. at about 7:35 a.m. Smith, who also lived at the home, fled the scene in Nash's car, police said.

A relative in the house called 911. Nash was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Homicide Squad detectives located Nash's car, which Smith inside, at 10 Thrasher Dr. in Bellport, police said. Smith was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

Smith and Nash, who were not married, had three children together, a 10-year-old boy, 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, police said.

The children, who were home at the time of the stabbing, were not harmed, police said.

Smith will be held at the Fifth Precinct overnight and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Tuesday.
