Man Shot During Long Island Home Invasion

Two men armed with handguns invaded a Long Island home overnight, police say.

NORTH BELLPORT, NY – A 29-year-old man was shot during a home invasion on Long Island early Tuesday.

Suffolk Police say two men armed with handguns entered the home in the 700 bock of Walker Avenue at about 2:50 a.m. and shot a resident, James Toney, in his arm. The made off with nothing. Toney was transported via South Country Ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing, and police are asking anyone with information to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or anonymously to Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
