UPDATE: Man in Custody in Mastic Beach After Barricading Himself in Home
The incident led to police advising residents to stay in their homes Monday afternoon.
A man is in custody after he barricaded himself into a Mastic Beach home Monday afternoon, leading to a tense situation for residents in the area for several hours.
It started at about 1:20 p.m. A police spokesperson told Patch it was unclear why police went to the house on Elder Drive or why the man wouldn't leave.
There were police radio reports that the man was armed with a gun, but the spokesperson would not confirm that.
