Mastic Woman 'Seriously Injured' After North Bellport Crash Thursday Morning: SCPD

Police say the woman lost control of her car before she was struck.

NORTH BELLPORT, NY — A woman was "seriously injured" after a car crash in North Bellport early Thursday morning, police said.

The Suffolk County Police Department said at approximately 5:25 a.m., 59-year-old Waldina Sanchez of Mastic was driving a 2012 Toyota Corolla westbound on Sunrise Highway near Station Road when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the center median.

As Sanchez tried to return to the travel lanes, her car was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Wesley Krupp, 70, of Mastic, SCPD said.

According to police, Sanchez was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital in serious condition, and Krupp was transported to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both cars were impounded for a safety check, police said.
