MTA Police Investigating Fatal Train Strike Near Bellport Station
The person was struck at about 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, prompting an investigation and suspended service.
BELLPORT, NY — Metropolitan Transportation Authority police are investigating the circumstances under which a person was struck by a train near the Bellport train station on Saturday and died, a spokesman said.
Long Island Rail Road officials announced that service between Bellport and Montauk was suspended in both directions "after a person was struck by a non-passenger train near Bellport," in a tweet at about 11:13 p.m. on Saturday. Emergency service personnel were on scene, according to the agency, which expected further updates.

On Monday, MTA spokesman Michael Cortez said the person died and that the matter was still under investigation, but that “no criminality” is suspected.
