The Mastic Beach Village swore in 4 newly elected officials today who wasted no time getting down to business

Mastic Beach, NY-

On Monday April 6, 2015 about 50 Residents and some local politicians packed into the court room at the Mastic Beach Village Hall for a special meeting of the Village Board of Trustees. The reason the special meeting was called was for the swearing in of many new members of the village government. On March 18th Voters elected 3 new members to be part of the 5 member board those were Mayor Maura Spery and Trustee Chris Anderson & Anne Snyder who officially took the oath of office .

After taking the oath Mayor Spery took very little time out before she got down to business. Her first official order of business as mayor was to swear in Elizabeth Manzella to replace her as trustee for the unfinished year that was given up by taking over the office of Mayor. The mayor then went through other business matters including approving the hiring of a Court Officer by a 4-1 vote. The reason for the hiring she stated was to help keep order and decorum at the public village meeting. When newly elected trustee Chris Anderson stated his points about how the public input should be taken in to consideration so they don’t feel intimidated the mayor stated she took this action because she wants the officer at the next public meeting later this month. The board passed a few more resolutions regarding village personnel before dismissing the meeting. Congratulations to all the new officials
