Northwell Health Acquires Majority Stake in Suffolk Surgery Center
Suffolk Surgery Center is the seventh joint-venture surgery center that Northwell Health has partnered with.

Northwell Health has acquired a majority position in the Suffolk Surgery Center, a freestanding, multi-specialty, outpatient practice located at 1500 William Floyd Parkway. Northwell holds a 70 percent stake in the joint ownership agreement along with the nine physician owners of the center.
The Suffolk Surgery Center specializes in general, ophthalmologic, orthopedic, gastroenterology, podiatric, pain management and colorectal surgeries. With 40 surgeons credentialed to perform surgery there, the center cares for close to 7,000 patients annually. The 8,500-square-foot facility has four operating rooms, eight post-anesthesia care unit beds and four pre-operative beds.
“The partnership with the Suffolk Surgery Center is another clear example of how we’re partnering with physicians to strengthen patient-centered care in communities we serve throughout the New York metropolitan area,” said David Battinelli, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer. “An ambulatory surgery facility offering a diverse spectrum of clinical expertise gives our patients additional options for superb medical care.”

“We are very pleased to join Northwell Health in a joint venture partnership with the largest health system on Long Island,” said John G. Passarelli, MD, managing partner of Suffolk Surgery Center. “The Suffolk Surgery Center has been providing quality health care services since December 2000 and we look forward to working with Northwell Health in continuing to improve upon quality and expand access to outpatient ambulatory surgical procedures.”
Suffolk Surgery Center is the seventh joint-venture surgery center that Northwell Health has partnered with, and the health system plans to open up nearly 20 additional ambulatory surgical centers throughout the New York area over the next several years. In addition to ambulatory surgery, Northwell plans to continue the expansion of comprehensive ambulatory services to the eastern Suffolk County area over the next two years. Among the health system’s current ambulatory surgery joint venture partners are: SurgiCare of Manhattan, Endoscopy Center of Long Island in Garden City, Garden City SurgiCenter, South Shore Surgery Center in Bay Shore, the Digestive Health Center of Huntington and Richmond ASC in Staten Island.
