Northwell Health Opens Medical Practice In Former Brookhaven Town Hall In Patchogue
Northwell has opened a 14,000 square-foot multi-specialty practice at the former Brookhaven Town Hall in the heart of Patchogue Village.

PATCHOGUE, NY – Northwell Health Physician Partners has opened a 14,000 square-foot, multi-specialty practice in the former Brookhaven Town Hall in the heart of Patchogue Village, contributing to the revitalization of the region and reaffirming what Northwell Health says is its commitment to provide much-needed quality care and services to Suffolk County residents.
The offices, located at 205 South Ocean Ave., house 11 physicians and 33 support staff and can handle 130 patients a day. The facility includes specialists in cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonary, nephrology, rheumatology and ophthalmology. The practices opened in July.

“You can get almost any high specialty test that you would need as an adult patient under one roof,” said Thomas McGinn, deputy physician-in-chief and senior vice president of physician network operations for Northwell Health. “What’s great about this is – it is coordinated care. The lung doctor talks to the heart doctor who talks to the rheumatologist. They are all going to be working together with the patient experience in mind.”

The Patchogue facility underwent a $4.7 million, multiyear renovation and Northwell worked with the Town of Brookhaven to preserve the historical value of the building, which was constructed in 1926. Additions were completed as part of a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project in 1939. The building was in use by the town until 2004. Among the historic treasures preserved: A marble, spiral staircase and telephone booth – along with the character of the building itself.
“This building has served multiple purposes over the years, but today we are delighted have it be the centerpiece of health care in Patchogue,” Michael J. Dowling, president and CEO of Northwell Health, told the crowd at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday evening. “We want to bring the best of health care to this community. This is part of an investment that we’ve made in Suffolk County overall.”

The health system has 95 outpatient facilities in Suffolk County and four hospitals in Suffolk – Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, Huntington Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and South Oaks Hospital in Amityville – and are in discussions with Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson about joining Northwell.
The landmark, two-story building will house Northwell’s comprehensive primary specialty care services with ample space for exam rooms (16), physician offices, along with suites for nuclear testing, stress echocardiography testing, specialized ophthalmology testing and pulmonary function testing. The facility includes an echocardiography and vascular laboratory.
“Every community has assets. Every community has things that make them different and better than other communities,” Village of Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri said. “Northwell coming into the community and providing the kind of services they do is another asset that this village has when we talk to people about living in our community. So it is extremely important. Health care is an asset the community needs to have.”
