'Numerous Opportunities Available' To Volunteer In Fire Departments, EMS Companies Across Suffolk

Residents can check with their local departments or ambulance companies for more information about how to become a member, officials say.

YAPHANK, NY — Suffolk's fire officials are reminding residents the region's local fire departments and ambulance companies, which comprise of mostly volunteers, need members.

For those who may be interested in volunteering during times of emergency there are "numerous opportunities available," the county's Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services says.

Residents can check with their local departments or ambulance companies for more information about how to become a member, and obtain free training as a firefighter or emergency medical technician.
