Pantry Picnic in Honor of Vietnam Veterans
Col. Josiah Smith Chapter DAR held a Pantry Picnic on August 6th at the Swezey Avey House. We filled a food pantry at The Veterans Place!

The Col. Josiah Smith Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), based in Patchogue, honored the Vietnam Veterans on August 6th at the historic Swezey Avey House in Yaphank. Regent Dr. Joan Nathan and Yaphank Historical Association President Bob Kessler planned the event which included tours of the historic house, line dancing by Lady T, songs by Connie Rae, and Concert by Lora K. Children enjoyed face painting by Laura Miller. Lawn games were enjoyed by all! Kayak rentals were available at the beach of Yaphank Lake. This event collected non perishable food and paper goods for The Veterans Place food pantry. The resident veterans also enjoyed a lunch! Thank-you to all who contributed to the basket which raised money for a scholarship of a service member's child. The basket was donated by Councilman Michael Loguercio. We look forward to next year's concert/picnic on the last weekend of July!
