Pat-Med High's 'Stick it to Cancer' Floor Hockey Tournament a Huge Success
Event raised more than $4,000.
The Patchogue-Medford High School “Stick it to Cancer” floor hockey tournament took place on Sunday, March 29.
Sixteen student teams competed for the “Raider cup” in a five-hour tournament. The championship went to the “Ugly Pucklings” who won in double overtime against the “Lumber Jacks.” In a feature game, a team of high school teachers (the Evil Empire) won bragging rights after beating an administration team (The A-Team), led by high school principal Randy Rusielewicz in a 1-0 victory. A great time was had by all.
High school teacher and coordinator of the event, Angela D’Amico, said that the tournament, a fundraiser, was a huge success and raised just over $4,000 for senior scholarships, Stony Brook’s “Sunrise Fund” and to aid two students in need.
