Patchogue Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash On Sunrise Highway Near Westhampton: Cops

MASTIC, NY — A Patchogue man died instantly Saturday after his motorcycle crashed into the center median on Sunrise Highway near Westhampton, state troopers said.

Donald Ellers, 64, of Patchogue was driving a 1984 Harley Davidson in the eastbound lane, just east of County Road 111, at about 3:30 p.m. when it left the roadway, police said, adding, that the bike continued into the center median, where it struck the guide wire and he was thrown and killed instantly.

The troopers are asking anyone with information related to the crash to call 631- 756-3300.
