The Patchogue Theatre’s Loading Dock Is Making A Comeback

PATCHOGUE, NY — The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts’ backstage venue within a venue — the Loading Dock — is making a comeback on Thursday.

The venue, which has a backstage door entrance, will showcase new music and comedy while serving up select beer, wine, and snacks.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. show are $20.

For its first night back, The Big Happy will use “storytelling, infectious hooks, zany characters, and funky grooves to reach their fans,” according to a news release. The group is known for direct support for Beres Hammond's World Tour 2019 at The Paramount and also for supporting other reggae artists including Slightly Stoopid, Sublime With Rome, and Oogee Wawa. Their most recent performance was the Froggy Daze Music Festival in May and they are set to support bands like Rebelution at the Great South Bay Music Festival in 2022.

Playing Dead, which will take the backstage on Oct. 28, was established in 2010 “after Sam Hoyas and Dave Casale decided to form a band that would combine loud guitars with lots of melody,” the news release states.

“With their drive to create inspired music, drawing from influential artists, The Lemonheads, Samiam, and Superdrag, Playing Dead’s music is a myriad of catchy hooks with a sound that has no limits,” the news release states. “Their 2021 release, Clock Tick Motivation, with current members Chris Nolte on the drums, Rich Ferrara on lead guitar, and Jason Rutcofsky on keyboard/ backing vocals has already provided 5 tracks, with more music to come.”

The opening act for the performance is Clover’s Curfew, which is “a rowdy Punk, Folk, and Indie Rock band” formed in Bohemia in 2018 by Jameson Jay and Danni Christian, according to the news release.
