It will identify how flooding, extreme weather, heat, and other climate-related impacts affect the community, village officials say.
PATCHOGUE, NY — In keeping with Patchogue's broader climate initiatives, the community will have an opportunity to help shape the village's future resilience efforts, by completing a short Climate Resilience Survey, officials said.
Residents, business owners, and stakeholders are invited to take part.
It will help identify how flooding, extreme weather, heat, and other climate-related impacts are already affecting the Patchogue community, and where action is most urgently needed.

In its continuing efforts, the village is also hosting an Electric Vehicle and Sustainability Fair, celebrating Earth Month, showcasing clean energy innovations, sustainable living solutions, and the growing accessibility of electric vehicles, on April 11.
The free and family-friendly fair, sponsored in partnership with the village and Drive Electric Long Island, will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Patchogue Long Island Rail Road Station parking lot.
A highlight of the event will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly-installed solar carport array and EV charging stations at the LIRR station, which marks a significant milestone in the village’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate action.
The fair is part of Patchogue’s broader sustainability initiatives and aligns with ongoing investments in renewable energy infrastructure, climate adaptation, and community engagement.
August Ruckdeschel, deputy planning and zoning coordinator and member of the village’s Climate Smart Task Force, said the event is “about more than just electric vehicles.”
“It’s about empowering our community with the knowledge, tools, and partnerships needed to transition to a more sustainable future,” he said. “From clean transportation to energy efficiency and environmental stewardship, Patchogue is proud to be leading by example.”
Residents are also encouraged to bring their own electric vehicles to showcase and share their experiences with others, considering the switch to EVs.
Attendees can explore a wide range of activities and exhibits, including:
- EV Showcase: A diverse lineup of fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles from local dealerships and EV owners, offering residents the opportunity to see, learn, and ask questions firsthand.
- Sustainability vendors and nonprofits: Dozens of organizations providing information on clean energy, energy efficiency, environmental programs, and sustainable products and services.
- Family entertainment: Interactive activities and programming designed to engage residents of all ages.
- Community engagement: Opportunities to connect with local leaders, businesses, and advocacy groups working to build a more sustainable future.
- Family-friendly activities, including music and face painting sponsored by Johnson Controls and Sunrise Electric, free ice cream provided by Home Efficiency Experts, and family activities hosted by the Patchogue-Medford Library.
Registration is requested to help organizers plan accordingly.
A rain date has been set for April 18.
