Pedestrian Struck By Car, Seriously Hurt On Sunrise Highway In Patchogue: Police

The 22-year-old man was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, Suffolk police say.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously hurt a pedestrian in Patchogue early Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.

A 19-year-old woman from Patchogue was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze westbound on Sunrise Highway and got off at Exit 51, where her vehicle struck a man, who was standing in the middle of the ramp, at around 4:15 a.m., according to police.

The man, 22, of Farmingdale, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said, adding that the woman was not hurt.

A vehicle was impounded for a safety check, police said.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the 5th Squad in Patchogue at 631-854-8552.
