Petition Started To Show Support For Flo's Luncheonette
The petition claims that some "detractors" in the area who do not want the restaurant to stay in business.

LONG ISLAND, NY — After over 90 years in business, Flo's Luncheonette is looking for support from the community to be able to keep the legacy alive. The local eatery, which has two locations on 302 Middle Road in Blue Point and 38 W. Main Street in Patchogue, recently started a petition on Change.org to "Fight for Flo's."
According to the petition the Vigliotta family, who took over ownership of the restaurant 20 years ago, have been working to "maintain, improve and beautified the property." However, the owners were recently informed that some the upgrades and improvements they are planning need to go through the permitting process with the Town of Brookhaven. While they are resolving those permitting issues, the petition claims that some "detractors" in the area have made it clear they do not want the restaurant to stay in business.
"Their goal seems to be to have us scale down our business to the way it was many years ago. This campaign, if successful, would not enable us to operate in a way to sustain the business and would prevent us from continuing the legacy that Florence Kimball began," the petition reads. "We have always recognized the uniqueness of our location and how special a place it is in the community."

As a result, the petition was created in order to show the Town of Brookhaven how much support the business has from the community. The goal is to receive 5,000 signatures. As of Monday the petition has 4,926 signatures.
Some local residents shared their opinion on social media, stating that there has been an influx of traffic and parking issues around the restaurant recently.
