Pit Bull Attacks Child Inside Long Island Home
The girl was airlifted to the hospital. A man and a woman inside the home were also bit by the dog Wednesday evening.

BELLPORT, NY - A 7-year-old girl was seriously injured after being attacked by a pit bull inside a Long Island home Wednesday evening, police said. Two adults who tried to get the dog off the child were also injured.
According to Suffolk Police, the child was playing with a male pit bull when the dog began attacking her at home on Bieselin Road in Bellport at about 5:10 p.m. The dog bit the girl in the right arm, resulting in multiple lacerations.
The mother of the girl was bit in the right hand attempting to get the dog off her daughter, police said.

An adult male, who was dog-sitting the pit bull at his home, hit the dog over the head with a shovel to try to get the dog to release the girl. The dog bit him as well.
The dog ran into the backyard and the man locked the door, police said. Emergency Service officers responded and put the dog into a cage.

The mother and daughter were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via Suffolk County Police helicopter. The 7-year-old has serious injuries and her mother suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The male resident was transported to Long Island Medical Center in East Patchogue by South Country Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
