Police: Man Drowns at Smith Point County Park
The man was found unconscious in the water Monday afternoon.
Police are investigating the drowning death of a Ronkonkoma man at Smith Point County Park in Mastic Beach Monday afternoon.
Seventh Precinct police officers responded to the beach after a caller reported that a man was found unconscious in the water at about 12:15 p.m.
Witnesses stated that they saw 48-year-old Kerry Agosto swimming in the water. A few minutes later, the witnesses observed Agosto floating near the shore, police said.

The beach-goers pulled Agosto out of the water and attempted CPR.
Agosto was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is continuing.
