'Possible' Hand Grenade Found In Long Island Garden: Police
UPDATE: Officers from Suffolk's Emergency Services Unit responded determined the device was inert, a police spokesperson says.
SETAUKET, NY — A possible hand grenade was found in an East Setauket garden on Sunday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
At around 5:30 p.m., officers from the department's Emergency Services Unit responded to the location determined the device was inert, according to a spokesperson. The description of inert means a device is a replica with its active explosives removed, but police would not confirm this.
The device will be seized and destroyed, police said.
