1 Injured In Patchogue Shooting: Police
Patchogue-Medford schools were locked down after a shooting near Main Street, officials said.

PATCHOGUE-MEDFORD, NY — A man was hospitalized after being struck by a car and then shot in Patchogue on Tuesday morning, according to Suffolk Police. The 35-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was struck by a car and then shot by the driver of the car at 10:20 a.m.
Detectives believe the incident, which occurred in an alley located off South Ocean Avenue, just south of Main Street, is related to an earlier dispute.
The man was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Patchogue-Medford schools were locked down following the report of the shooting, according to a letter from Superintendent of Schools Donna Jones. The message stated that school officials were advised by the Suffolk County police department that there was a suspect associated with a shooting driving around Patchogue-Medford.
The lockdown was lifted at about 11:45 a.m. after police notified school officials that the situation was under control.

"The safety of all of our students and staff is always our primary concern in these situations," Jones wrote. "All schools are now in normal operating mode."
