Woman Struck, Killed By Car In Coram

A 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe struck her, Suffolk cops say.

CORAM, NY — A Selden woman was struck and killed in Coram on Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

Mark Daniels was driving a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe northbound on North Bicycle Path, near South Street, when it struck Merlin Elizabeth Martinez while she was walking east across the street at 7:35 p.m, according to police.

Martinez, 66, of Selden, was transported by a Selden Fire Department ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, said police, adding, that Daniels, a 67-year-old Coram resident, was not injured.

The Santa Fe was impounded for a safety check, according to police.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to call the 6th Squad at 631-854-8252.
