SPCA Rescues Pig Oinking Around in East Patchogue

The pig took a stroll around town on Thursday evening.

A pig found wandering around in East Patchogue on Thursday evening was rescued by the Suffolk County SPCA and returned home safely to its owner.

SPCA officials made the announcement on Sunday. SPCA Chief Roy Gross said the SPCA received a call from Suffolk County Police on Thursday regarding a pig that had gotten loose from a Scherger Avenue address and was roaming around on Taylor Avenue.

Lt. John Thompson, Sgt. Michael Allen and Ryan Thompson of the SPCA’s Emergency Animal Response Team responded to the area within minutes.

The 125-pound pig was humanely captured and returned to its owner, officials said.

The pig was friendly and posed no danger to the community, the SPCA officers said.
