It will fill the trustee position vacated by Steve Mackin, effective Dec, 31, 2025, and the elected individual will serve the remainder of the term from April 7, 2026, through June 30, 2026, according to the village's website. The village's regular election will proceed as scheduled on June 16, 2026.

Partner groups have included the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, Yale Alumni, Con Edison, Rye Neck School, Mamaroneck School, Stanford Alumni, the Rye Garden Club, Rye Sustainability Committee and many more.&nbsp;

Indigo Goodson-Fields is a writer, poet, and birder based in Brooklyn. Her forthcoming book, entitled Essential Birding is an anthology about the importance of birding in the lives of Black birders across the U.S. and will be published by OR Books in fall 2026.
