Suffolk Man Left Dog In Backyard In Freezing Weather: Police
He left a female Akita in the backyard of a home when the temperature was below 20 degrees, Suffolk police say.
EAST PATCHOGUE, NY — An East Patchogue man left a dog outside of a Shirley home in freezing weather, Suffolk police said.
George Beere, 54, left a female Akita in the backyard of a Shirley home on Feb. 5 at about 10 p.m, when the temperature was below 20 degrees, according to police. He was charged with restraining pets - temperature less than 32 degrees under the state's Agricultural and Markets Law, police said.
He is due to appear in court at a later date.

The charge is an unclassified misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $250 and/or imprisonment of up to five days for the first offense.
