Suffolk Police Identify Woman Killed In Apartment Fire

A 59-year-old Patchogue woman died on Nov. 24, police said.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Suffolk police on Monday released the name of a woman who died in a Patchogue apartment fire almost two weeks ago.

Susanna Belgiorno, 59, has been identified as the woman who died on Rider Avenue on Nov. 24, police said. Her name was initially withheld pending positive identification, police said. No one else was in the home at the time of the fire and no other injuries were reported, according to police.

Fifth Precinct officers and members of the Patchogue Fire Department responded to Rider Avenue after a 911 caller reported an apartment fire at that location at about 6:13 p.m., police said. Belgiorno was found dead in the home once the fire was extinguished, said police, adding, that a total of three apartments were damaged in the fire.
