Teen Locked Up For Shooting Queens Man At Long Island Baby Shower: PD

He shot the man after he tried to break up a fight between a pair of teen girls on the lawn, cops say.

BAY SHORE, NY — A teenager was locked up after he shot a Queens man, seriously injuring him, at a baby shower in Bay Shore on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

Vincent Peredaviz was attending a baby shower on Pine Acres Boulevard when a fight broke out between two teenage girls on the front lawn, said police, adding that when Peredaviz tried to break up the fisticuffs, a 16-year-old boy fired a handgun striking him in the leg.

Peredaviz, 41, of Astoria, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries, police said.

A 30-year-old man who saw the shooting wrestled the 16-year-old to the ground and held him until 3rd Precinct officers arrived and took him into custody, according to police.

The teen, whose name was not released, was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Police do not release the names of minors who are charged with crimes.

The teen was held overnight at the 3rd Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in Youth Part at First District Court in Central Islip.
