Tree Service Fined $2,500 For Dumping In Yaphank Pine Barrens: DEC

More than 100 cubic yards of logs and tree debris left on the public lands has since been removed, the DEC said.

YAPHANK, NY — The state's Department of Environmental Conservation has fined a tree service company $2,500 for illegally dumping eight large logs and tree debris on public land inside the Central Pine Barrens in Yaphank, the agency said.

The logs and debris were found by the Central Pine Barrens Commission and the Suffolk County Sheriff's office, according to the DEC. It measured more than 100 cubic yards and the piles were removed and disposed of properly, the agency said.

A Deer Park-based company was later identified by investigators from the DEC's Bureau of Environmental Crimes as the responsible party.
