Veteran's Day Celebrations In Patchogue On Friday

The day will begin with a ceremony at the Four Corners, followed by a concert featuring the work of John Philip Sousa at the theatre.

PATCHOGUE, NY — Veteran's Day will be marked in Patchogue with two different celebrations on Friday.

The village's annual Veterans' Day Ceremony is taking place at the Four Corners at 10:30 a.m.

But later in the day, there will be a musical salute to veterans featuring the work of John Philip Sousa played by the Atlantic Wind Symphony at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts.

The concert will begin at 3 p.m.

Best known as the “March King, Sousa was a prolific composer who spent 12 years of his career conducting the United States Marines Band. The concert will feature the performance of all of the U.S. armed forces service songs and veterans and current active military members will be recognized while the song from their branch is being performed.

Sousa actually performed at the theatre on July 23, 1923, and June 23, 1924.
