Rockland County Executive Ed Day recently honored two local Marine veterans who fought on the Pacific island of Iwo Jima 70 years ago.
Francis Duffy, 91, of Pearl River and 91-year-old Gene Iaconetti were recognized during a special luncheon hosted by the Rockland County Marine Corps League.
“The freedoms and opportunities that are afforded by the American Dream were paid for by the courage and sacrifice of our brave veterans,” Day said in a press release.
