SEE YOU THERE ANNUAL POW/MIA CEREMONY Saturday September 20, 2014, 7:35 PM, Rockland Community College, Theater Hosted by RCVCC

GUEST SPEAKER: Lt. Chester Lubeck

At age 20, Army Second Lieutenant Chester Lubeck was assigned to the 99th Infantry Divi sion in World War II. On December 16, 1944, he was captured by German soldiers during Hitler’s greatest counter-offensive, the bloody Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, one of the fiercest battles of World War II. After four months as a prisoner of war, Lt. Lubeck and a great deal of other American prisoners were outside an ammunition dump in Nuremberg, Germany that was bombed by US military planes. In the bombing, twenty-eight men were killed and 48 were seriously injured, including Lubeck who suffered a concussion and hearing loss. Two weeks after the bombing Lt. Lubeck escaped from his captors and was able to gain his freedom.
