Another Reason to Love Rockland

An appreciation of Rockland pandemic wise.

(Apple Maps)

By this time we all know that the major way in which the pandemic spreads is by droplets discharged for one’s chest, mouth and nose to another’s mouth, nose, eyes & chest.

We also know the propulsion range of the droplets is from inches to 13 feet and some of it lingers in the air.

Ergo, beside face masks, protection is distance from each other. Space is our friendly defense. Which brings me to why Rockland is a haven of sorts.

One example of our blessings is that Rockland is not over congested like NYC. It is the second smallest size County in New York State with only 350,000 residents. Manhattan is the smallest and has many millions of residents living in high density communities using high density means of travel or walking on congested streets. Rockland is not over congested.

Another blessing is that Rockland’s can escape to the open windy Jersey Shore in the South or the Catskill Mountains in the North in no more than 120 minutes. Furthermore we are protected by the Ramapo Hills on our West and the mighty Hudson River on our East.

So we can optimize our risk of contagiousness by always wearing masks when we leave our homes, never touching our eyes, and never standing close to everybody else and very very far from anybody maskless. We have the space.
