Bloomingburg Man Charged with DWAI in Pearl River

Police had been called about an erratic driver Feb. 13.

Brendan Ayres, 52, of Bloomingburg N.Y. is due in Orangetown Justice Court March 11.

The Orangetown Police received a complaint about a vehicle driving erratically in the Pearl River area Feb. 13. An Orangetown Police Officer found it, conducted a traffic stop, and observed that the driver had slurred speech and poor motor control.

After a brief investigation Ayres was placed under arrest for suspicion of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. At this time he was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.

Ayres was transported to Orangetown Police Headquarters where he was administered a chemical test (results pending). He was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, both misdemeanors.

He was released on $200 bail.
