As the credits rolled for Chronicle, the movie, my brain flashed C - in bright red, bold letters. No one noticed my perplexing look. The audience was clapping.
Loudly.
Did they see the same movie I saw? A jostling sci-fi endeavor with a weak plot and gaping holes?? The main character, Andrew, begins to film Chronicle, his perspective of life stemming from a childhood of abuse, teen bullying, and pain. A plot twist and Tra-la-la, three teenagers have newfound superpowers.

The rest of the movie is spent watching the teens strengthen their powers and play pranks. Tra-la-la, the culmination is a spectacular end result of an evil upbringing.
Maybe I'm just the annoying mom, the one who stands up to bullying, hates peer pressure, and wants to jail parents who verbally or physically abuse their children?

On the other hand, maybe I'm just getting old and I missed the sheer entertainment? If you grab a movie ticket for Chronicle this weekend., you may find yourself clapping with my sons and friends (and the rest of the audience for that matter). The special effects, superheroes, and teenage pranks combined with an explosive ending clearly won. This time.
